Jennifer L. Miskimins (SPE 2026 President) is a professor and the department head of the petroleum engineering department at the Colorado School of Mines (Mines), where she holds the F.H. Mick Merelli/Coterra Energy Distinguished Department Head Chair. She has over 30 years of experience in the petroleum industry, starting with Marathon Oil Company as a production engineer. Miskimins began teaching at Mines in 2002 and has held various appointments since then. From 2013–2015, she held a part-time appointment at Mines while working at Barree & Associates. In 2016, she returned full-time to the university.
Miskimins served as the first Completions Technical Director on the SPE International Board of Directors. She was an SPE Distinguished Lecturer in 2010–2011 and 2013–2014. She was awarded the 2014 SPE Completions Optimization and Technology Award, and in 2022, she received the SPE Distinguished Achievement Award for Petroleum Engineering Faculty. Miskimins has served on a variety of conference organizing committees, including chairing the 2023 and 2024 SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Conference and Exhibition, and as a technical editor for SPE journals, including serving as the executive editor of Production & Operations for 3 years. She was the editor in chief for the 2019 SPE Monograph update “Hydraulic Fracturing: Fundamentals and Advancements.” Miskimins has served on the AIME Board of Trustees since 2018 as an SPE trustee and was the 2022 AIME president. Miskimins holds a BS from the Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology and MS and PhD degrees from the Colorado School of Mines, all in petroleum engineering.
Talk Description
SPE 2026 President Jennifer Miskimins opens the SPE France autumn season with “SPE: Solutions, People, Energy and What the Future Brings”. Through this title, the SPE acronym takes on a new meaning — Solutions, People, Energy — inviting us to reflect on the future of our profession, our industry, and the SPE community. As the energy landscape evolves, new technical challenges, solutions and expectations are emerging, reshaping the skills needed, career paths, and the role of technical communities such as SPE.
The event is designed to be interactive. Jennifer will open with a short 10–15 minutes presentation before turning the floor over to the audience for an open Q&A.
Attendees are invited to bring their questions about their career path, the skills needed for the future, the evolution of the industry, or the role of SPE itself. Students and early-career professionals are particularly encouraged to attend.

What we collect and why. Your name, email, job title, company or university, phone number, primary domain, SPE membership status, and how you plan to attend. We use it to confirm your place, send you the calendar file and practical details, send a reminder the day before, and ask for feedback afterwards. Your phone number is optional and is used only if we need to reach you on the day about a last-minute change. Your domain and membership status are used in aggregate to report attendance to the Board; we do not use them to make decisions about you individually.
Legal basis. Our legitimate interest in running events for our audience (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The communication choices at the end of the form are optional and run on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting your registration.
Who sees your data. SPE France Board members organising the event. If you attend in person, your first name, last name, and company are shared with the venue's security personnel before the event, for building access control only. That list is deleted after the event. We do not share your data with event sponsors or third-party marketing partners.
Filming and streaming. This event is streamed live and recorded, and the recording is published afterwards on the SPE France YouTube and LinkedIn channels. The camera tracks whoever is speaking, so if you are in the room and ask a question, you will appear on camera and in the recording. You may also be visible in the background of wider shots. If you prefer not to appear: sit in the marked area at the back of the room, which stays out of frame, and send your question in writing instead of asking it from the floor. A Board member at the entrance can show you where to sit. If you do appear and want it removed, write to dpo@spefrance.org and we will cut the relevant part from the published recording. We cannot undo the live broadcast, which is why the seating and written questions matter. Speakers appear on camera in their professional capacity.
Where it is processed. This form runs on Google Forms. Google LLC (United States), Zoom, and Restream process data on our behalf. Transfers to the United States are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Full details in the SPE France Privacy Policy.
How long we keep it. Check-in records and other operational event data are deleted within 90 days after the event. The fact that you registered for this event is kept for 3 years. If you opt in to future invitations, we keep your name and email until you withdraw your consent, or for 3 years from your last contact with us, whichever comes first. After 12 months with no contact we ask you to reconfirm, and remove you if you do not reply.
Your rights. You can access, correct, or delete your data, restrict or object to this processing, or ask for a copy of what you gave us, by writing to dpo@spefrance.org. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr).
