Tim Bjerkelund is a Partner and the Head of Advisory EMEA. His focus is on gas & power, where he supports our global client base on strategy development, long-term planning, transactions, and market outlooks. Having worked for Rystad Energy for more than a decade, he was also part of the team developing the Rystad gas and LNG outlook. Tim is the former head of the New York advisory practise; he is currently based in Norway.
The conflict in the Middle East is accelerating shifts that were already underway in global energy markets: faster diversification of gas supply, new dynamics in Asian renewables deployment, and a sharper focus on energy security across importing nations. What began as a regional crisis is now forcing governments, national oil companies, and energy majors to reassess supply chains, contract structures, and long-term investment strategies that had been considered settled.
On April 16, Rystad Energy brings an in-depth market outlook to SPE France. Tim Bjerkelund, Partner and Head of Advisory EMEA, will walk through what these developments mean in practice across a broad set of issues: how LNG trade flows are being redirected and repriced, what increased energy security concerns mean for sourcing strategies in Europe and Asia, how the disruption is affecting the pace and geography of international exploration activity, and whether the pressure on fossil fuel supply is accelerating (or complicating) the deployment of renewables in key growth markets.
Rystad Energy is one of the leading independent energy research and advisory firms globally, known for its quantitative analysis of supply, demand, and market dynamics across oil, gas, and renewables. Tim has spent over a decade at the firm, where he was part of the team that built Rystad's gas and LNG outlook, led the New York advisory practice, and now heads Advisory for the EMEA region. His work spans strategy development, long-term planning, transactions, and market outlooks for a global client base, giving him a perspective that combines macro market analysis with the practical realities facing operators and investors today.
The presentation will be followed by a networking drink near Place de la Concorde — an opportunity to continue the conversation with fellow professionals from across the energy sector.
